Tackling paper clutter means cleaning up and organizing all the papers in your home (most commonly in an home office space).
It's important because a tidy space can help with focus and make everyday life feel more manageable and calm.
So for someone with ADHD, getting rid of paper clutter can make it easier to stay organized and feel more relaxed and in control of our home.

Strategies for managing paper clutter:
Separate paper clutter in 2 categories: important papers & junk mail:
- This is to help keep organized to avoid the feeling of overwhelm, by tackling each section one (small) stack at a time!
Keep or Toss:
- Sort through each stack and keep important papers and toss any junk mail or unnecessary papers right away.
Adopt a system:
- Important Papers: use a filing cabinet to organize/label important papers and documents
- Junk Mail: use a designated box to keep unecessary papers/mail to routinely throw out/recycle
Tips for reducing incoming paper:
Go Digital:
Set up online accounts for receiving bills, statements, and important documents, so they can be easily accessed and organized on the computer or tablet.
Create folders to organize important papers, documents, photos.
You can also set up reminders or notifications on electronic devices to check and manage digital documents, so they don't get lost or forgotten.
Online accounts to organize:
- Google Drive
- Google Sheets or Excel
- Dropbox
- Microsoft OneDrive
If you prefer physically organizing your papers:
